I’ve been to business and bloggers networking events for many years. Networking has really helped with all of my businesses and blogs in their growth, exposure and sometimes it’s nice to get out of the house and meet people in real life. Networking can be nervewracking, so in today’s post, I’m sharing my best networking tip with you.
If you’re introverted, like me, it can be stressful to go up to people you don’t know and start a conversation with them. In this video below I’m sharing my best networking tip. Watch it here:

Networking Tip

One of the things I’ve found is many people at networking don’t like it. They are also nervous, unsure and don’t like starting up conversations with strangers.

My best networking tip to start a conversation with a new person or to join a group is the following:

Would it be ok if I join you?

It’s a great way to start a conversation and since I’ve been using this, every person has always said yes! The first time I tried it, I couldn’t believe how excited the people were to have me join them, this had never happened to me before at a networking event.

Sometimes the language you use can make all the difference when it comes to having a positive outcome and experience.

Afterall, networking is about making connections, potential collaborations and a great way to let people know what you do. You don’t want to leave the event wishing you’d talked to more people. So next time you are at an event, use the phrase and you’ll be amazed how much easier it makes starting those initial conversations!
