BEING A START-UP IN 2018!

A few weeks ago I went for a weekend trip to London for the Enterprise Nation Start Up 2018 conference. The conference is aimed at start-up businesses and seeing as I am involved in two start-ups it felt the perfect event to go to. Plus I always like an excuse to visit London!
Although I won’t run through every single thing I did on the day I thought it would be a good idea to share some of the key takeaways I had at the event.

Go For It
The thing I learnt from the speakers I heard was to go for it! If you have an idea start working on it and begin to move forward. You can figure out how to do it on the way but if you don’t start you’ll never know if it would have worked!
Things Go Wrong
Another common theme between the speakers I heard was things won’t always go to plan. When this happens it’s ok to ask for help, speak to people and again keep going. One day you’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come.

Use Social Media
Social media was, as you would expect, a huge talking point when it comes to growing your brand. The recommendations were to utilise it as much as you can, create a strong following and use this to research what your customers want more of!
Network
By attending an event such at the Start-Up conference but also events relating to your industry and community, they can really help you spread the word about your business. A few of the speakers also shared how they had received opportunities thanks to attending events.
Be Imaginative
One of the common denominators from the speakers I heard at the conference is none of them had developed something new but they had created something with their own spin on it – Making it unique to the brand they were creating.

If you are planning on growing your business, starting your own start-up or developing your blog in 2018 then these tips are a great way to start to help you grow and develop your own brand!
It was a really great day of learning. I firmly believe you can always learn something so I love to go to these type of events.
